A Constitution for 2076
Visioning the Constitution we need For a better future
Democracy 2076 has brought together a coalition of organizers to align on vision, identify shared priority amendments, and develop a campaign strategy. And now, we are executing it.
Voices from our June 2025 convening
Our Convenings for Constitutional Change
-
In June 2025, we hosted our third national convening focusing on connecting current, defensive work to the long-term building of a new Constitution; deepening our understanding of the coalition needed to amend the Constitution and engagement strategies; and refining the plan we began building in 2024.
We are now working to execute our refined strategy with partners at the state and national levels.

In June 2024, we completed our second convening, where we reassembled participants from December 2023 including state organizers, along with national networks and issue-area advocates on the three themes we aligned on in December (guaranteed basic rights/universal basic income, Congressional reform, and elections reform). Together participants developed a strategy to start moving the amendments identified in December from the drawing board to the governing chamber.

In December 2023, Democracy 2076 reached a major milestone when we brought together 53 participants from 43 states and the District of Columbia for four days of scenario planning and networking. At this event, participants identified 68 possible amendments to the Constitution that would help create the conditions for a thriving future and prevent the worst possible outcomes facing America in 50 years. Coming out of the convening, participants aligned on three main categories of amendments – guaranteed basic rights/universal basic income, Congressional reform, and elections reform – that we will work to move forward throughout future phases of work.
